Home Visit Counselling and Psychotherapy in Melbourne
Home Visit Counselling and Psychotherapy in Melbourne
In-person home visit counselling and psychotherapy in Melbourne
Grief, life transitions, and chronic disorganisation can feel deeply overwhelming, especially when anxiety, depression, trauma, or ADHD are also present. For some people, receiving counselling through a home visit makes it easier to begin support. When things at home feel overwhelming, it can be hard to know where or how to begin.
I offer home visit counselling and psychotherapy in Melbourne for people who find attending a clinic difficult or overwhelming.
Home visit counselling and psychotherapy offer a gentle, grounded way to receive support in the space where your challenges are most present. Whether you’re navigating a major loss, a difficult transition, or the emotional weight of clutter and disconnection, working together in your home allows us to meet what’s real without pressure to present a version of yourself you’re not yet ready to show. For many people experiencing chronic disorganisation or overwhelm, working in the home environment allows us to understand how daily life is actually unfolding.
Why Home Visits Can Be So Supportive
Home visits allow us to:
-
Explore how your home environment and what you’re experiencing are affecting one another
-
Identify what’s supporting you – and what’s contributing to overwhelm
-
Support grief and transition work at your own pace
-
Explore manageable strategies that fit your circumstances, capacity and values
-
Offer presence and support in moments of vulnerability and uncertainty
This approach can be beneficial if:
-
Coming home after being out feels difficult, especially when grief makes the house feel painfully quiet
-
Your home no longer feels like a place of rest or refuge
-
You feel immobilised by change, grief, or decisions
-
You’re overwhelmed by belongings, paperwork, or inherited items
-
You’re avoiding visitors or spaces in your own home
Some clients find value in a single visit. Others benefit from occasional check-ins or regular in-home support over time.
What to Expect in a Home Visit
Home visits are counselling and psychotherapy sessions. I don’t provide hands-on decluttering, cleaning or organising services.
Our first visit includes:
-
A gentle conversation about what’s working and what’s not
-
A collaborative exploration of your needs, goals, and current reality
-
Optional involvement of family or support people (by agreement)
We’ll agree on the length of your home visit based on the type of support being provided. We’ll also discuss any applicable travel costs before your appointment is confirmed.
To prepare:
-
If needed, arrange for pets to be secured so that we can work safely and without too much disruption
-
Choose a quiet, private space (e.g. kitchen table or a calm sitting area)
-
No need to tidy – the work begins from right where you are
If you’re navigating grief, dealing with life transitions, or facing chronic disorganisation, a home visit may offer a more accessible way to begin or continue counselling. Together, we can explore what is happening for you at home and what might help daily life feel more manageable.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to clean or tidy before a home visit?
No. There’s no need to prepare or present your home in any particular way. We begin with things as they are – this helps us work with what’s real, not ideal.
Can I book a single session?
Yes. Some people find that one visit is enough to spark insight or relief. Others may book occasional or regular sessions depending on their needs.
What if I’m nervous about letting someone into my space?
That’s completely understandable. We’ll talk through any concerns beforehand, and we’ll move at a pace that respects your boundaries and comfort.
Can others be involved in the session?
Yes – if helpful and with your consent. Sometimes involving a family member or support person can enhance the process. We always discuss this ahead of time.
How far do you travel?
Home visits are available across Melbourne’s inner, northern and eastern suburbs, including areas such as Brunswick, Ivanhoe, Eltham and Ferntree Gully. If you’re unsure whether I travel to your area, please feel welcome to ask – I may be able to arrange something or refer you to someone nearby.
